Meet Elmer. He approached me a few weeks back while I was in Chinatown. He even gave me a grand tour of Chinatown and pointed out historic places like Grand Lodge where I photographed this portrait of him. I have no idea why he was compelled to talk to me. Maybe he just wanted to talk to someone. He even bought me a cup of coffee and we talked for a bit in a congee restaurant. He was quite a character and had a few jokes that he shared with me. He seemed to know everyone, almost in an awkward way in that they were avoiding him. It’s fascinating meeting people and sometimes you just have to spend a little time with them.
